Accessibility statement

We want every visitor to be able to use this site, whatever device or assistive technology they rely on.

The standard we follow

This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Where we can, we go further and meet the stricter Level AAA rules as well.

What we have done

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, and the item in focus always has a clear outline.
  • A link at the top of each page lets you skip straight to the main content.
  • Pages use real headings, lists and landmarks, so screen readers can move around them quickly.
  • Text and background colors meet the Level AAA contrast ratio of 7 to 1, in both light and dark themes.
  • The site follows your device's light or dark setting, and you can change the theme yourself.
  • Buttons and menu links are at least 44 by 44 pixels, so they are easy to press.
  • Pages reflow to a single column, so you can zoom to 400 percent without scrolling sideways.
  • Nothing moves, flashes or plays by itself, and nothing has a time limit.
  • The site still works when scripts are turned off.
  • Meaning is never carried by color alone.
  • Every picture of our apps has a text description of what it shows.

How we test

Automated checks run on every page each time the site changes. They cover light and dark themes, at desktop and phone sizes, using the axe-core testing engine. We also check each page by hand with a keyboard.

Automated tools cannot find every problem. Testing with screen readers is still in progress, and we will update this statement when it is complete.

Known limits

  • Some pages name technical standards and products, such as OpenID Connect and SAML. These terms are harder to read than the rest of the site.
  • Not every abbreviation is spelled out each time it appears.
  • The diagram at the top of the home page is decoration. The services it shows are listed as text directly below it.

Tell us about a problem
